Now You Know How The System Works

A hat tip to my Aunt Judith for sending me this.

Hank, that is the challenge that our system represents. It,in my mind, is not good or bad; it is what it is. The more complex, the more ways there are to work one's way through the system.

If you want to see something really complex and convoluted try studying U.S. International Taxation via Tax Treaties.

Those who rely on personalities such as Colbert to teach, are really taking a shortcut to learning and understanding.

Al,

Thanks, but I have enough trouble wrapping my head around simple stuff.

I had to laugh. Your comment about learning from personalities is spot on. You can also apply that to 99.913% of what we see on television and hear on radio.

However, those who've been following Colbert's actions are becoming much more aware of how money influences our elections. He's not just talking about it, he's doing it. And from his experience we come away with a much better understanding of how the system works.

It's not so much that people rely on Colbert for their education as it is that underneath that parody he's one of the few people who speaks so frankly and truthfully.
