soccermomsusie Not Revealed

In today's Spokesman Review, Shawn Vestal writes about soccermomsusie, "...the online name of a cranky, prolific, George W. Bush-loving, Obama-hating, Bible-misquoting, exclamation-point-and- ALL-CAPS-deployment specialist – a deft satirical voice that skewers a certain kind of online blowhard."

You may need to log in to read the article. And you should because it's pretty funny.

Fortunately, Shawn was unsuccessful in trying to find out more about soccermomsusie. Or at least he's not revealing it because that would be tragic. Pulling the curtain aside would change everything. For it would no longer be soccermomsusie sneaking up behind other commenters and giving them virtual wedgies, absurdly affirming their views, and generating a mix of wait-are-you-serious and you-tell-em-girl reactions that add to the humor.

Instead it would be, "Oh, that's so-and-so playing the part of soccermomsusie." Anonymity lends authenticity to the soccermomsusie persona. A reveal would cause the people who don't get her satire to ignore it instead. Hopefully this article about her doesn't have that effect.

Some People Just Have No Sense

The Dove World Outreach Center, a non-denominational church in Gainesville, plans to host an "International Burn A Quran Day," on the ninth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks this year.

The group even has a Facebook page full of bile, hate speech, misinformation and an occasional post from a rational voice. Verses from the Bible and Koran are tossed about as "proof" and Godwin's law has already proven true.

[Pastor Terry ] Jones, who is also the author of a book titled "Islam is of the Devil," said protests are key to the mission of his church.

"We feel, as Christians, one of our jobs is to warn," said Jones. The goal of these and other protests are to give Muslims an opportunity to convert, he said.

Which makes just as much sense as a non-Christian religious group burning a pile of bibles to provide an opportunity for Christians to convert. It's sad how one's belief system can be used to justify or rationalize an action that would be egregious and highly offensive were the reverse to happen.

And don't you dare say I'm wrong or there'll be hell to pay.

The Problem With The Country Today

I'll tell you what the problem is. People don't have a clue, that's what. They were fooled into electing a president who wasn't born in the U.S. and now he's doing everything he can to become a dictator. His Communist-Socialist-Marxist-Fascist policies will soon enable jack-booted henchmen to round up our young people and put them in re-education camps. Thanks to Barack HUSSEIN Obama the federal government is taking over our health care. Somebody show me where the U.S. Constitution says the government can take over health care. You can't, can you? That's Socialism! The last thing I want is the federal government messing with is my Medicare. And I'm dead set against having death panels deciding if people get to live or die. I'm telling ya, people need to get a clue.

And what about all these illegal aliens? Twelve million of them! That's not an invasion? They come here and take our jobs even when unemployment is at it highest. They suck our tax dollars out through the welfare office and they get free medical care at the hospitals. Have you seen how crowded emergency rooms are? And then we have to have print forms and put signs up in twenty different languages. This is America and we speak English. If you're here legally then learn it. If you're not, then you're outta here and you'd better not come back. But we can always build more prisons to accommodate your desire to live here.

What we need are real Americans protecting our country. I don't mean our military. God bless our soldiers, sailors and airman for doing their patriotic duty. I honor them every Memorial Day and Veteran's Day. No, I'm talking about the patriots that don't have a special day of remembrance. People like Sean and Glenn and Sarah and Rush. People who don't hide from the truth, but expose it. People who work diligently every day fighting against those who hate America and try to bring it down. Why don't all Americans wear a flag pin and have a flag flying on the front of their house? Unpatriotic liberals aren't hard to find. They've infiltrated every level of our government. And they want to void the Second Amendment and take away our guns! Can you believe that?

That's the problem with the country today. People just don't have a clue about what's going on.
